เข็ด

v. to dread (to do something), to be afraid (esp. because of a previous bad experience), to become chastened, to be subdued, to be submissive.

เข็ดขาม- to submit through fear;

เข็ดปาก- to be surfeited with a person's remarks; เข็ดฟัน- the teeth are set on edge, the teeth are sensitive; เข็ดมือ- to be afraid of another's hand or methods.

ฉันหวังว่าทีนี้แกจะเข็ดละ I hope you are now chastened.

เดี๋ยวนี้เขาเข็ดหลาบแล้ว He has now had his lesson. เขาเข็ดไม่อยากจะต่อสู้อีกครั้ง He is afraid to fight again.
